Celebration Sundays

Time set aside for all four congregations to worship together

All Saints, Higher Walton has a sister church; Holy Trinity, Hoghton, legally we are held in plurality together.  What this means in reality is that we share our vicar Rev Hannah!  We also do lots of things together.

We see this as a great strength and we have spent the last four years learning to serve and worship together.  Lots of our events are run by volunteers from both churches and we do all our youth and children's work together.  We have also learnt to appreciate worshipping together and we do this every other month as well as at Easter and Christmas.  These services are always times of great celebration and fun with plenty of noise, chaos and great refreshments.

We always meet at 10.30am for Celebration Sunday and we alternate which church we meet at.

We have come to recognise the truth of the Bible verse which says:
'How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!' Psalm 133 verse 1

In 2024 our celebration Sunday Services are:
March 31st, 10.30am @Holy Trinity, Hoghton
May 5th, 10.30am @All Saints, Higher Walton
June 30th, 10.30am @Holy Trinity, Hoghton (welcoming our new curate Danny & his family)
September 1st, 10.30am @All Saints, Higher Walton (Back to School Sunday)
November 3rd, 10.30am @Holy Trinity, Hoghton
Christmas Day, 10.30am @All Saints, Higher Walton

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 9.15am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up.

Our Sunday Service

The service begins at 9.15am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. During our services we will sing songs or hymns, pray some prayers, listen to the Bible, hear a sermon and pray for the world.  We also receive Holy Communion, usually every other week.

What about my children?

Children are welcome at all our services.  Although we don't have specific groups for children during the morning service, they are always welcome and can often be found getting involved.  We also have a room at the back with toys and craft materials for children to use.

Our main service which caters for children happens every Sunday afternoon at 4pm up in the hall at Holy Trinity, Hoghton.  Everyone is welcome at 4forAll.  This is a very informal service with songs, talking, prayers and crafts.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, in the evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group
